Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2, 2026

Effective date: August 2, 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Cattly (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use:

Cattly is farm and livestock management software. By creating an account or using our services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Cattly.

2. Who is responsible for your data

Operator: Cattly

Cattly is the name under which we operate this service. We are not currently registered as a separate legal entity.

Contact: hello@cattly.io

Website: https://cattly.io

For questions about this policy or your personal data, contact us at the email above.

3. Information we collect

We collect information you provide, information generated by your use of the app, and limited technical information needed to operate and improve the service.

3.1 Account and identity information

When you register or sign in, we may collect:

DataHow it is collectedRequired?
NameYou enter it, or we receive it from Google Sign-InYes (for an account)
Email addressYou enter it, or we receive it from Google Sign-InYes (for an account)
User IDAssigned when you create an accountYes (for an account)
Profile photoIf you sign in with Google, we may display your Google profile picture URLOptional
PasswordIf you register with email and password (stored hashed; never in plain text)Required for email/password accounts

We use this information to create and manage your account, authenticate you, and associate your farm data with your account.

3.2 Farm and business information you enter

To provide farm management features, you may enter data about your operation, including:

DataExamplesRequired?
Contact detailsNames, phone numbers, addresses, and notes for buyers, suppliers, vets, and other contactsPhone and other contact fields are optional
Financial recordsExpenses, milk sales, animal sales, payment status, amounts paid or pending, and related notesOptional — only if you choose to record them
Livestock and farm recordsAnimals, health events, inventory, pastures, herds, and other operational dataDepends on features you use

This data is stored on your device (for offline use) and synchronized with our servers when you are online. It is linked to your account and farm (team).

3.3 Photos

You may upload photos from your camera or photo library, for example:

  • animal profile photos
  • receipts and expense attachments
  • photos attached to health events, sales, or inventory items

Photos are optional. If you add them, they are stored on our servers and linked to your account and the related farm record.

We do not access your entire photo library. We only receive images you explicitly choose to upload.

3.4 Location information

Cattly uses location-related data in two different ways:

A. Farm and pasture map data (stored)

When you use grazing or map features, you may draw or place pasture boundaries, markers, or set a farm location using map coordinates. This precise location data is saved and synced to our servers so you can manage pastures and grazing. This is optional — you only provide it if you use those features.

B. Device location for map centering (not uploaded)

If you tap “My location” on the grazing map, the app may request permission to read your current device GPS position solely to center the map on where you are. This device location is used while you use that feature, is not sent to our servers, and is not stored on our systems.

We do not read your device’s contact list or address book.

3.5 Crash logs, diagnostics, and device identifiers

We use Google Firebase Crashlytics to help us find and fix app crashes and stability issues. When the app crashes or encounters certain errors, Crashlytics may automatically collect:

  • Crash logs (error messages, stack traces)
  • Diagnostics (such as device model, operating system version, memory state, and app state at the time of the error)
  • Device or other identifiers (such as a Firebase installation identifier)

If you are signed in, we may associate crash reports with your Cattly user ID (not your email) and basic context such as app flavor and team ID to help us investigate issues affecting your account.

Crash reporting is enabled in production builds of the app. We do not offer a separate in-app toggle to disable Crashlytics while using the production app.

For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy and Firebase data processing information.

3.6 Support chat (Crisp)

If you open Support chat in the app, we use Crisp to provide live chat. When you start a chat, Crisp may receive:

  • your email address
  • your name
  • a session label indicating you are using the Android app

We do not send your farm financial data, contact phone numbers, photos, or pasture map data to Crisp through the in-app chat integration.

See Crisp’s Privacy Policy.

3.7 Google Sign-In

If you choose Sign in with Google, Google authenticates you and shares certain account information with us (such as your name, email address, and profile picture URL) according to your Google account settings. Google’s handling of your data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.

4. How we use your information

We use the information described above to:

  • provide, maintain, and improve Cattly’s features
  • create and manage your account and farm (team) membership

Farm data you enter is stored on our servers and is accessible to you and other members of your farm (team) according to permissions you configure.

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, users, or the public.

5.4 Business transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any material change in ownership or use of your personal information.

6. Data storage, retention, and deletion

Where data is stored: Your data is stored on servers we operate or contract with. A copy may also be stored locally on your device for offline access.

Retention: We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Account deletion: You may delete your account:

When you delete your account, we permanently delete your user account and apply our farm ownership rules (owned farms and associated data may be deleted; membership on other farms is removed). Some information may remain in encrypted backups for a limited period before being overwritten, or where we must retain it for legal compliance.

Photos and attachments linked to your farm data are deleted when the related records or your account (and owned farm data) are deleted, subject to our backup retention practices.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:

  • HTTPS encryption for data transmitted between the app and our servers in production
  • Secure token storage on your device (encrypted storage on supported Android configurations)
  • Access controls so farm data is visible only to authorized team members
  • Hashed passwords for email/password accounts

  • Delete your account (see Section 6)
  • Export or receive a copy of your data (contact us — we can assist with reasonable requests)
  • Object to or restrict certain processing (contact us)
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (for example, you can revoke location permission in Android settings; you can choose not to upload photos or financial data)

To exercise these rights, contact hello@cattly.io. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, you may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

If you are in California, you may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA. We do not sell personal information. See Section 5 for categories of data we collect and share.

9. Children’s privacy

Cattly is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International data transfers

If you use Cattly from outside the country where our servers are located, your information may be transferred to and processed in other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

Our app or website may link to third-party sites (for example, Google Sign-In or legal pages). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Review their policies before providing information to them.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version at https://cattly.io/privacy-policy and change the “Last updated” date. For material changes, we may notify you in the app or by email. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
